Your Life Has a Story - And It Matters

Your Life Has a Story - And It Matters

Do you have a tradition of watching Christmas movies every year? If so, do you have a favorite?

We do.

Among the ones we enjoy are Scrooge, Cape Cod Christmas, The Man Who Invented Christmas, and of course, It’s a Wonderful Life, my personal favorite.

Why that one? Because the entire story hinges on one powerful truth:

If George Bailey had never been born, life in Bedford Falls would have been drastically different.

Think about it…

If he hadn’t been there the day his little brother fell through the ice, Harry wouldn’t have grown up to save hundreds of soldiers in the war.
If he hadn’t stopped the pharmacist from accidentally putting poison into a prescription, someone’s child would have died.
If he hadn’t married Mary, she would’ve lived a lonely, quiet life, and their four beautiful children would never have existed.

One man’s life — unnoticed in many ways, unglamorous, full of sacrifice — made an immeasurable difference.

And so does yours.

Let me ask you something:
Can you think of a time when your life made a difference to someone else?
Maybe it was a conversation, a meal you delivered, a prayer you prayed, a moment where you stopped what you were doing to help someone in need.

Now imagine the trickle-down impact of that moment. What did your kindness make possible?
What chain reaction did your compassion spark?

As we talked about in the last blog, your life is significant. Your story matters.
And there is someone, maybe in your family or maybe in your community, who is waiting to hear it.

So let me encourage you to begin here:
Tell your story. Write it down or record it.

What was it like growing up?
What were your parents like?
What details do you remember about your grandparents, or even your great-grandparents if you were blessed to know them?
What about the aunts, uncles, and cousins who left their mark on your childhood?

Share the funny moments.
Share the meaningful ones.
Share the imperfect ones.
Write it the way you would share it across the table with a child or grandchild who is hungry to understand their roots, their family, their story.

Because here’s the truth:
Nobody else can tell it like you can.
Nobody else lived the moments you lived.
Nobody else carries the details, the emotions, or the lessons quite the same way.

And your story will mean more to your family than you may ever know.

You don’t need to sugarcoat anything. You don’t need to make it sound perfect. Real stories touch real hearts. Authentic stories pass down wisdom. Honest stories build legacy.

Before you begin, pause and pray.
Ask the Lord to guide your thoughts, warm your memories, and lead your words.
And then, just start.
You may be surprised by where He takes you.

Your life truly is a wonderful life, not just because of where you’ve been but because of all the people God has touched through you, and all the people still waiting to receive the gift of your story.
