What's One Place in Your Past You Wish You Could Change?

If I could change anything, it would be my high school years.

I wanted to be accepted, but I wasn’t. I wanted to belong to the “in crowd,” but I felt like an outsider.

And somewhere along the way, I turned inward.

Instead of seeking what was healthy, I found myself in a relationship that, looking back, showed all the signs it wasn’t right. But I didn’t see it then. Or maybe I didn’t want to.

This was before I knew Christ. I was searching but not finding the guidance I needed. I even reached out for help once, hoping someone would point me in the right direction. Instead, I walked away feeling more confused and alone than before.

So I stayed, longer than I should have.

We can’t change the past, can we? But, we can learn from it. More than that, we can begin to see that God hasn’t wasted it.

Over time, I’ve been able to use that season of my life to help someone younger walking through a similar struggle. It’s given me the courage to speak up when I hear things that don’t sound right. Most of all, it’s deepened my desire to pray for wisdom, for protection, and for God’s direction in their lives.

So let me ask you…

What part of your story have you buried?

What if God doesn’t want to erase it, but instead, He wants to redeem it?

There may be someone who needs what you’ve learned. Not because you did everything right,
but because you didn’t, and God still met you there.

A Gentile Invitation

You don’t need to overcomplicate this:

This week, ask God to gently reveal any part of your past you’ve been avoiding. Sit quietly and ask Him to show you how He might use it for good.

Prayer

Father, thank You that nothing in our lives is wasted when we put it in Your hands. Even the seasons we wish we could change, You can redeem. Give us the courage to face what we’ve buried, and the faith to believe You can use it for good. Show us who we can encourage with what we’ve learned, and guide us with Your wisdom as we do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
