Do Your Dreams Feel Lost?

Do Your Dreams Feel Lost?

Do you even have a dream any longer, or have you completely given up on it?

If so, you are not the only one.

After sending out my first email in this devotional series, one of my dearest friends confided in me. With tears welling up in her eyes, she whispered, “Mindi, you write about dreams… but I don’t have a dream anymore.”

My heart shattered into pieces like broken glass.

I know her pain. I know the family rejection that has brought her to rivers of tears. And I know how deeply disappointment can wound the soul.

A Resurrected Dream

How can a dream be resurrected in the midst of total defeat? Scripture gives us a tender answer:

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted;

He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.” Psalm 34:18

It might feel trite to quote Scripture to someone who is suffering this deeply. But if we cannot go to the Word of God for comfort, we truly have no hope. And that is a dangerous place to be.

Yet, it is also the place where unconditional surrender becomes possible.

Because who suffered more rejection than Jesus?

“When His family heard what was

happening, they tried to take Him

away. ‘He’s out of His mind,’ they said.”

Mark 3:21

His own family could not fathom that their brother was the Messiah, not while He was walking among them. But, oh, how that changed when He rose from the dead.

Jesus Understands What We're Going Through

Jesus understands family rejection. He understands misunderstanding. He understands grief, betrayal, and isolation. And He is the only One who can truly transform our broken lives by putting them back together, piece by piece.

“In His kindness God called you

to share in His eternal glory by

means of Christ Jesus. So after you

have suffered a little while, He will

restore, support, and strengthen you,

and He will place you on a firm foundation.”

1 Peter 5:10

God Has Not Forgotten You

If your dream feels lost right now, hear this gently:

Do not let someone else’s decisions and attitudes crush the dream God planted in your heart.

Do not allow the enemy to steal both your dream and your joy. And if the dream you once carried truly has died, ask the Lord for a new one.

He has not forgotten you.

He hears your humble cry. I know this for certain,

because He has heard mine.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart;

do not depend on your own

understanding. Seek His will in all

you do, and He will show you

which path to take.”

Proverbs 3:5–6

Lord, Please Dream For Me!

Sometimes resurrection does not look like getting back what we lost. Sometimes it looks like receiving something holy, new, and unexpected.

And sometimes the bravest prayer we can pray is this: “Lord, I don’t even know how to dream anymore. Please dream for me.”

Call to Action

Before you move on to the next week, I invite you to do one small, tender thing: Continue praying for the one person you chose this month, and be intentional. Not because you feel strong. Not because you have all the answers. But because, as I said before, turning our hearts outward is often how God quietly heals our own.

As you pray for them, ask God this simple question:

"Lord, what are You dreaming for me right now?"

You don’t have to hear an answer. You don’t have to feel hopeful yet. Just show up. This week is not about rebuilding your dream. It’s about creating space for God to breathe new life into your heart.

Next week, we will begin talking about how prayer, small acts of love, and surrendered trust can slowly open the door to new dreams, His dreams, for you.
